Chris G: ‘Too big for her britches’
The public is beginning to find out what political insiders have known for years -- Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani is, well, Chris Giunchigliani.
And that's defined for many as an embarrassment to the ideal of selfless public service -- vindictive, power hungry and, in what may be the worst attribute of all, far less smart than she thinks she is.
This story in this morning's newspaper shines light on one day in the life of Commissioner Giunchigliani. People who work with "Chris G" on a regular basis will tell you that this kind of behavior is routine.
As the day wears on, you might want to revisit this story online and take a look at the reader comments. Assuming she doesn't task county staff to participate in a forced letter-writing defense (she wouldn't do that, would she?), I'll bet you'll see a lot more like these posted this morning:
• "Giunchigliani is a bully ... maybe she'll end up where so many of them do , in the pokey."
• "Way too big for her britches. Anyone that tells an official that they can't correct her in a public forum and then goes on to chastise a woman in the audience for nodding in agreement because it was annoying her has let the power go to her head!"
• "One more thing. Funny how Chris G and Lawrence Weekly wanted to go back and revisit laying off the CNAs from the emergency room. It is because they did not read their material and actually understand what the agenda item was about. Who's fault is that? It is entirely their fault for not being prepare and looking at all their backup material. I am amazed how many decisions are made with knee jerk reactions from this board."
• "Like most union thugs, madam commissioner has no clue about professional or appropriate behaviour in the workplace."
• "Didn't she learn anything from Perkins ridiculous behaviour in a hospital a few years ago? Perkins political career hit the wall. And frankly, madam commissioner so should yours. Your nothing more than a lobbyist for the unions...there ought to be a law."
• "Chris G is riding the very thin line between serving 2 Gods (the public and the Unions). Unfortunately... The "Public" takes 2nd place in her book..."
• "There is no way for Chris G. to look good with all these letters going back and forth. The bottom line is that she is the elected pol with more power than anyone else in the situation so she looks like a bully."
• "Jesus, I can't *believe* that people in power have to be taught professionalism over and over again."
