City gives Newport an ‘Oscar’

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman recognized the 24-story Newport Lofts residential development with a Mayor's Urban Design Award in the category of Buildings and Their Environs.

Other awards went to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve in the Public Place public category, Betty Willis for Lifetime Contribution in Public Art, and the Morelli House for Historic Preservation.

"All of these award winners exemplify the city's vision for leaving a sustaining footprint on the rich culture and quality of life of Las Vegas," Goodman said. "This is our second year to recognize quality design work within our city, and we remain hopeful that others will also take their future projects to this level and higher."

The high-rise's design encourages a walkable lifestyle with ground-level retail and office space. A law office is now relocating to the building, and among other planned retail space is a coffee shop.

"We at Newport Lofts are very pleased to be recognized by the mayor and to be part of the reemergence of a city in downtown Las Vegas," said sales agent Adam Gafke. "Newport Lofts not only brings well designed, spacious loft-style living spaces complimented by resort-style amenities to the downtown, it also features retail space with individual street-side entrances and is among the first completed new downtown residential developments that encourage an urban appeal to living life."

"We are just one of the many new developments that are changing the face of downtown.

"Nearby, the expansive Union Park project has broken ground and its plans include a performing arts center, medical facilities, plus several gourmet dining and upscale retail establishments.

"Art galleries and shops are opening on almost every corner. Residents are finding metropolitan lifestyle opportunities just outside the door at Newport Lofts."

Gafke said the project has attracted a range of buyers -- singles, couples and those seeking a secondary or vacation home.

Overlooking the entire valley is the high-rise's private rooftop SkyDeck and SkyLounge where residents may enjoy resort-style amenities.

In addition to a pool, spa and outdoor gathering spaces, residents have access to a running track, movie room, wine bar and billiards area. An on-site fitness center is equipped and houses men's and women's locker rooms.

"The SkyDeck and SkyLounge overlook the entire city and are great places for residents to go when they come home from work or play. Whether they just want to relax while enjoying uninterrupted 360-degree views of the city, connect with friends, or stay in shape in our private fitness facility, residents can do that at on the rooftop of Newport Lofts," Gafke said.

The development's 168 loft-style condominiums and penthouses range from 911 to 3,052 square feet. Prices start in the low $300,000s.

"With our resort-style amenities, full-service front desk and loft-style homes, Newport Lofts is becoming an address of choice for buyers in Las Vegas," Gafke said.

The development is located at 200 Hoover Ave., near the intersection of Casino Center Boulevard in downtown Las Vegas.

The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information call 880-4321 or visit newportloftslv.com.
