Clark County GOP schedules annual dinner
March 30, 2009 - 8:26 am
The Clark County Republican Party has scheduled its annual Lincoln Day dinner for April 17, according to a party e-mail.
Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., is to be the keynote speaker at the dinner, being held at the Gold Coast. Traditionally, each county's party hosts a fund-raising dinner observing Lincoln's birthday, and candidates and elected officials tour the state to reach out to their base.
Ensign has declared that he wants to help rebuild the Republican Party in Nevada and he's already spoken at Lincoln Day dinners in some of the rural counties, which have already held their celebrations. (Though Lincoln was born in February, scheduling of the dinners is very flexible.)

The Clark County party urgently needs the money the dinner may bring in. A missive from county Chairman Bernie Zadrowski over the weekend informed members that they're broke.
"Under normal circumstances, my monthly message would concern a political issue or cause that is of some importance to us all as Republicans," Zadrowski wrote. "Every issue that we have talked about previously has been important. Today, however, the importance is off the charts because the consequences are DIRE. The issue is money. Quite frankly, we don't have any, and I am asking you to please help now. We need it to carry on our important work."
