The "coach" tag is how the New York Times described the role of Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

"Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader, is trying a different tack, acting like what one participant in closed-door sessions described as a coach, urging key chairmen not to get bogged down in pride of authorship and to keep their eyes on the legislative ball," the Times wrote Sunday.

Whether Reid will emerge as the next Knute Rockne or a legislative Mike Sanford isn't in the piece.
