Coming Sunday: Sara’s scholarship continues
March 19, 2010 - 2:13 pm
When Sara Halsey was murdered in May 1993, her mother, Elaine Cavagnaro, immediately started to create a scholarship at UNLV in her honor. The scholarship continues today.
Halsey’s murder remains unsolved.
“Sara was one of the most affectionate people I ever knew,” her mother says. “She would always come in and sit on my lap, even at 20. The morning she died she called me and said, ‘Madre, I just wanted to call and tell you I love you.’ That’s what I will miss most. I miss her affection.”
