Commercial real estate course scheduled

Environmental Risk Issues in Commercial Real Estate will be the topic of the Commercial Real Estate Certification Program's 2008 Series course set for March 1.

The series is sponsored by the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

Certification courses are taught at the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors office at 1750 E. Sahara Ave.

The certification program is a nine-part series that runs throughout the year. Participants can attend individual courses at a cost of $95 per course or sign up for the full series for $760 (those who missed the first 2008 course -- Site Selection, Location, Zoning and Planning -- taught Feb. 1, can take it in early 2009).

The Environmental Risk Issues course will be taught by Kevin Pentony, Ken Knight and Peter Gulash. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The program provides students a comprehensive overview of commercial real estate and development, said Debra March, director of the Lied Institute.

Commercial real estate certification can be earned through this program. Students earn six hours of Real Estate Continuing Education units per class while working toward commercial certification at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Lied Institute is part of UNLV's College of Business.

Series topics coming up later in the year include Complex Business of Land Acquisition April 5, Leasing Essentials Sept. 13 and IRS Code 1031: Tax Free Exchanges Dec. 13.

To make reservations, call the Lied Institute at 895-4492. For more information, visit Lied Institute.com.
