Country concert to be held at Mountain’s Edge

The 80-acre Exploration Park sets the stage for today's free outdoor country-themed concert and event. The sixth annual Country in the Park is scheduled 2-7:30 p.m. at the Mountain's Edge master-planned community in southwest Las Vegas.

Headlined by award-winning singer, songwriter and piano man Phil Vassar, performances will begin with the Tony Marques Band followed by Jana Kramer, who has several country hits and is a regular on The CW's "One Tree Hill."

Musical performances will begin with the Tony Marques Band from 2-4 p.m., followed by Kramer from 5-5:45 p.m. and Vassar from 6-7:30 p.m.

Exploration Park is at 9700 S. Buffalo Drive, south of Blue Diamond Road. Performances are in the park's grassy amphitheater area. It is adjacent to the 2,846-foot-tall Exploration Peak, which features walking, hiking and biking trails.

Country in the Park also features a beer garden, exhibits and food vendors . Attendees are invited to bring picnic baskets, blankets and chairs and new and gently used books to donate to Spread the Word Nevada, a nonprofit group that promotes literacy. PODS of Las Vegas, which provides portable storage containers, will collect the books.

The community's Season of Adventure sales campaign is under way with homebuilders offering a variety of promotions and incentives. Homebuilders include Beazer Homes, Discovery Homes, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes, Richmond American Homes, Ryland Homes and William Lyon Homes.
