Couple switches from condo to Centex home
Polly and Gerry Phillips were living in a Summerlin condominium when they decided to buy a single-family home in Centex Homes' Ardiente, an age-qualified community in North Las Vegas.
The couple had owned a Centex home in Albuquerque, N.M. for nearly 10 years.
"Centex builds a quality product, the people are honest and the warranty service is great," Gerry Phillips said.
Ardiente's floor plans are single story. The couple moved into a Barcelona home four months ago.
"We didn't want a whole lot of house to maintain," Gerry Phillips said. "The Barcelona plan is open, plus it has the rooms and options we need and want." Measuring 1,235 square feet, the Barcelona has a front kitchen, combined dining room and great room, owner's suite, secondary bedroom, den and two full baths. The layout includes a two-car garage and a patio, which can be built as a sunroom.
The community offers seven single-story floor plans, ranging from 1,400 to 2,813 square feet. Home designs have up to three bedrooms and three baths. Prices start in the $250,000s.
The couple said they regularly take walks past Ardiente's rose park -- one of six themed parks -- to smell the flowers. They said they also take advantage of exercise stations along the walking trails.
To visit, take Interstate 15 and exit Craig Road west. Turn right on Losee Road, then right on Ann Road, which turns into Tropical Parkway. Turn right on Walnut Road to the sales office.
