Danny Gans to do benefit for two programs helping students

Impressionist Danny Gans will perform a 7:30 p.m. benefit show Friday, Feb. 6 at the Encore resort on the Strip. The show will raise money for the Greater Las Vegas After-School All-Stars and Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada, organizations that support local youth programs.

The beneficiary nonprofit groups are both pet projects of Elaine Wynn, a director of Wynn Resorts and the wife of Steve Wynn, chairman of the board of the company that bears his name.

Elaine Wynn has co-chaired the Greater Las Vegas After-School All-Stars since 1995, and she was founding chairwoman of Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada.

Communities in Schools is a national organization working in 27 states and Washington, D.C. Elaine Wynn was recently appointed as its national chairwoman.

Gans concluded a nine-year run at The Mirage last year to take a job as the permanent showroom attraction at Encore when it opened six weeks ago. Steve Wynn hired him at The Mirage in 1999 and now he’s back with his old boss.

Tickets for the benefit show are priced at $75, $95, $110 and $120, plus tax and fees. To purchase, call 702-770-9966 or visit www.encorelasvegas.com.

Gans does more than 200 celebrity voices in his repertoire. He is one of Las Vegas’ biggest home-grown stars, an entertainer who packs casino showrooms although he’s not a household name outside of Las Vegas.
