Deal reached in Senate, Horsford says, but vote will wait

Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford announced on the floor of the state Senate that though a deal has been reached on taxes and pension reforms, no vote will occur in the current late-night session.

Speaking in the Senate at 2:30 a.m., Horsford said, “There has been a general agreement reached on the reform package as well as the other measures for funding the budget. However, we need additional time to review the draft language in order to take action.”

Horsford called on the Senate to convene as a committee of the whole at 9 a.m. to consider Senate Bill 429, which contains the $781 million in proposed tax hikes needed to fund the approximately $6.8 billion budget.

The Senate has adjourned for the night.
