Deeds and words, Mr. President

When President Obama today rightly told Americans to “never forget” the service of soldiers who died defending this nation, it’s hard not to remember that just last October he allowed the barricading of the open-air war memorials during the budget impasse.

World War II veterans — old men, some in wheelchairs — stormed the barricades, forcing the president to eventually think twice about trying to prove his budget points in such a petty way.

Yes, Mr. President, we should never forget the sacrifices of our soldiers. Too bad your words didn’t carry through to your deeds last October.
