Del Webb celebrates opening of center within Sun City Mesquite
November 17, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Del Webb today celebrates the grand opening of the 30,000-square-foot Community Recreation Center at the company's Sun City Mesquite community, located 90 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
The public is invited to attend the celebration, which will take place at the Community Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature complimentary catered food and beverages, a live band and free putting clinics led by PGA championship golfer, Scott Hoch.
Sun City Mesquite is an age-qualified community that offers a selection of 12 single-story home designs ranging from 1,200 to 3,100 square feet with two- or three-car garages. Prices start in the $180,000s.
While today's event will be open to visitors, it will be the last time the Community Recreation Center will be open to the public, according to Nick Parks, director of marketing for Del Webb Nevada.
The Sun City Mesquite Community Recreation Center will provide residents with a complete range of recreational and social opportunities.
Inside, it features a heated swimming pool, which will be used for activities such as lap swimming and water aerobics classes. Other indoor features include a heated spa, a two-story fitness center with an upper level walking track (offering panoramic views across the nearby mesa), a kitchen, central hall, lounge with a plasma screen television, computer kiosks, and rooms designated for classes, hobbies and clubs.
A highlight of the outdoor area is an 18-hole putting green designed by award-winning golf course architect Gary Panks, of Scottsdale, Ariz. Other outdoor features include a heated swimming pool designed, two heated spas and tennis, bocce and pickle ball courts.
Sun City Mesquite is the flagship community of the Anthem Mesquite community. Central to the community is an 18-hole golf course, which was also designed by Gary Panks and is expected to open after 2008.
