Del Webb reports healthy sales at Sun City Mesquite
During June and July, the recently opened Sun City Mesquite held the distinction of being Del Webb's best-selling age-qualified development among the 52 that are actively selling across the nation, according to Nick Parks, director of marketing for Del Webb Nevada.
"We are very pleased with the enthusiasm for Sun City Mesquite, its magnificent collection of model homes and the unsurpassed location afforded by the Mesquite area," Parks said. "Mesquite offers a serene, safe and beautiful locale, with great weather, scenic natural topography and a host of conveniences that active adults enjoy having close to home."
Officially opened to the public on June 16, Sun City Mesquite drew interest from prospective buyers from across the nation. Last spring, Del Webb rolled out an information campaign that attracted 14,000 registrants and more than 4,000 prospective buyers who attended informational seminars held in Mesquite, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. The town of Mesquite is located near the Nevada-Arizona border just a few miles south of the Utah line.
"We believe that the sales we experienced during our first two months of opening will serve as a great indicator of our future success here," Parks said.
Parks said many of the first buyers have already moved into their new homes in the community, which will ultimately comprise about 2,500 homes. Buyers have a selection of 12 single-story designs that range from about 1,200 to 3,100 square feet with two- or three-car garages. Prices start in the low $200,000s.
"This is the best possible time to buy a home in Sun City Mesquite for several important reasons," Parks said. "For one, our selection will never be better and our grand opening prices are exceptionally competitive. We can also offer buyers the convenience of an early move-in date on selected homes or, for those with a little more time, we offer the opportunity to choose your favorite home design and home site."
In addition to the Nevada address sought after by many retirement-age home buyers, Mesquite provides a small-town lifestyle with medical, retail and entertainment facilities nearby.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find the location of Sun City Mesquite ideal. The community is only a few hours driving time from three national parks: Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona, and Southern Utah's Bryce Canyon and Zion.
Sun City Mesquite is the flagship community of the Anthem Mesquite community. It will feature amenities designed for recreation and social interaction, including a recreation center (set to open in November 2007) with fitness facilities, rooms for club activities, computer lab, swimming pool area and various sports courts, including pickle ball, bocce and tennis. A series of trails will link outdoor amenities and open space areas to the homes.
Central to the community is an 18-hole golf course designed by the award-winning firm of Gary Panks & Associates of Scottsdale, Ariz. Completion of the golf course is anticipated for 2008.
To reach the Sun City Mesquite sales pavilion from Las Vegas, take Interstate 15 north to exit 120 and make a sharp left turn onto Falcon Ridge. Follow Falcon Ridge past Mesa View Hospital and Hardy Way. Turn right on Flat Top Mesa and continue to the Sun City Mesquite model village. Information can also be obtained at suncitymesquite.com, which features regular updates regarding the community, including photos and a time line.
Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest home builders. Del Webb pioneered the age-qualified community concept and remains the leading builder of developments for people 55 and older.
