Del Webb to celebrate anniversary within Solera at Stallion Mountain

Solera at Stallion Mountain marked its first anniversary by hosting a July 14 celebration that featured a big band.

Nearly 300 residents turned out for the event to dance to the sounds of The Tommy Thompson Project, a big band voted Best of Las Vegas in 2005 by the Las Vegas ReviewJournal.

"The residents absolutely loved the entertainment," activities manager Wendy Linow said. "There is a good reason why this band was voted Best of Las Vegas. They had everybody out of their seats all night."

Del Webb, developer of the age-qualified community, sponsored the evening's entertainment and refreshments. Others contributors included Paradise Ornamental, Buddies Pest Control and Jon'Ric International Salon, which donated raffle prizes.

Linow said Solera at Stallion Mountain is designed to bring residents together in the spirit of friendship and shared experiences.

"We are one of the smaller age-qualified communities, but we have some of the most spirited residents," she said. "With our population now close to 400 residents, we are able to support a lot of activities that were not possible before, such as bus excursions and clubs. Our second year looks to have even more memorable moments."

Activities will heat up as the weather cools down, Linow said. Starting in late September, the community will host a variety of events, including a home exposition with participants displaying their health- and homeownership-related services, a Hawaiian-themed pool party and a Halloween party.

Linow said activities at the neighborhood, which is about halfway through development of its 838 residences, are determined by resident preference. Despite its intimate scale, the community supports a broad range of interests, due its high level of participation, she said.

"As an activities manager, I feel very fortunate to be a part of this community," Linow said. "We facilitate the activities at the community, but the residents created the social environment themselves."

In addition to special events, Solera at Stallion Mountain regularly hosts line dancing classes, fitness classes, a singles club, poker and bridge tournaments and groups organized to play bocce and tennis.

Amenities within the neighborhood, which is part of the guard-gated Stallion Mountain Country Club, include a swimming pool and spa, tennis and bocce courts and a community center with club and hobby rooms.

Tucked away in a developed area of Las Vegas near the Clark County Wetlands Park, Solera provides a location that is set back from major thoroughfares.

Three floor plans are available, ranging from 1,671 to 1,900 square feet. Each home offers three bedrooms and two baths, as well as a two-car garage. Prices start from the low $300,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Flamingo Road, go east, past Nellis Boulevard, to the entrance of Stallion Mountain Country Club. The security officer at the gate will point visitors toward the model homes.

The sales pavilion is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Wednesday when it opens at noon. For more information, call 641-0263 or visit pulte.com.
