Dem-linked Asian-American group raps Amodei commercial

A Democrat-linked Asian-American group is calling on Mark Amodei to apologize for a campaign commercial that depicts a fake Chinese news anchor and images of the Chinese Army marching on the U.S. Capitol.

Amodei, the Republican running for U.S. House from Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, made an impact with the attention-grabbing ad that began running Monday in Reno.

The Asian American Action Fund said the 30-second ad was xenophobic and "fear mongering." It called on Amodei to pull it and apologize.

Amodei's campaign did not immediately react. While it said the commercial would run starting Monday it did not respond to queries this week as to how long it would be on the air.

The fund is a Democratic political action committee that works to elect Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to office.
