Detroit native, Mustang owner fan of Friendly Ford

Barbra Stevenson is a longtime Ford enthusiast who likes the combination of good power, excellent handling and the sporty look of a vehicle.

So Stevenson, a native of Detroit who has lived in Las Vegas for nearly five years, bought the perfect package when she purchased a black 2014 Ford Mustang Deluxe convertible from Friendly Ford at 660 N. Decatur Blvd. in June.

The Mustang has a 50-year history dating back to its introduction in 1964.

Like millions of automobile enthusiasts all over North America, Stevenson has been a fan of Ford for the past 20 years.

She said she appreciates the quality of a Ford and especially likes the Mustang’s sporty look along with a strong 305 horsepower 3.7 V6 that responds in an instant behind a six-speed automatic transmission.

“This is my sixth Ford in a row and my seventh Ford total,” said Stevenson, who is a groomer at PetSmart at 9775 W. Charleston Blvd. “It’s also my third brand new Ford and second from Friendly Ford.

“My first car was a 1977 Toyota Corolla when I was 15 in 1993 —and I have been a loyal Ford buyer ever since. “

Stevenson could be the ideal Ford customer.

“I was treated very well at Friendly Ford,” she said. “The people here bend over backwards for you.”

Stevenson’s sales agent Randy Block said the performance of Stevenson’s Mustang is especially impressive.

She came in to look at a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro before Block suggested a Mustang to her.

“It’s interesting to note that while the engine is the smallest engine offered in the Mustang, Barbara’s car will outperform almost all of the ‘muscle cars’ of the 60s,” Block said. “And what’s more important, the Mustang is environmentally responsible, getting up to 30 miles per gallon (31 mpg for the coupe) on the highway.

“You are selling an American icon that means so much more than transportation to a proud new owner,” he said.

Stevenson’s Mustang (nicknamed Eileen) also came with the Ford Sync Bluetooth system that includes traffic and directions, fog lights, auto HID headlamps and a power driver’s seat; along with four-wheel disc brakes, traction control, stability control and capless fueling (a Ford exclusive that turns gas station visits into pit stops).

Headed by General Manager Jason Davis, Friendly Ford is one of Southern Nevada’s oldest family-owned dealerships. The dealership has been at the same location for more than 44 years.
