Dig in at elaborate dinner to benefit scholarship fund

Culinary and hospitality students at the Harrah Hotel College are hosting a Chef Artist Series dining event with Geno Bernardo, chef of Nove Italiano at the Palms.

Together, they will prepare hors d’oeuvres and a four-course meal for the sixth installment of the dinner series. Proceeds from the event benefit a scholarship fund for students and faculty in the food and beverage department.

The dining event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, in the Stan Fulton Building at UNLV, off of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.

The menu will include appetizers of vitello tonnato freddo (cold veal in tuna sauce), a first course of anolini di Parma in Brodo (meat stuffed dumplings); a second course of pan-seared turbot with Maine lobster sauce Americana; and a third course of tournedos alla Rossini (beef steak with foie gras). Side dishes will include polenta al sugo funghi porcini (polenta dumplings with wild mushroom sauce) and wild mushrooms with thyme, garlic and chilies. For dessert, guests will build their own cannoli.

The cost is $100, and seating is limited. Reservations can be made by calling 895-1330.
