Dining Pick of the Week: H&H BBQ

PICK OF THE WEEK:

H&H BBQ

2245 Las Vegas Blvd. North, 702-444-4227

Say the word barbecue, and everyone has his or her favorite. In fact, just saying it can lead to a spirited conversation about the different types of barbecue and why one is better than the other. At H&H, barbecued meats include beef hot links, pork rib tips, barbecue chicken and beef brisket. Several sandwiches are beef hot links, beef brisket, pulled pork with coleslaw and catfish po' boy. Fried fish dishes include red snapper, whiting, buffalo, catfish and tilapia. Smothered meals are served over rice with lots of sauce/gravy and two sides and include chicken, pork chops, ox tails (Wednesday only) and steak (Sunday only). Among the sides are French fries, coleslaw, collard greens, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, fried okra, black-eyed peas, potato salad and ranch beans. Combo platters can be made with two, three, four or five meat selections. There are also smoked ribs. If you're really hungry, order the full slab for $28.99, and don't forget the sweet tea. Dessert is peach cobbler or banana pudding. Smothered meals start at $6.99 and sides at $1.99. H&H BBQ is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. - Jack Bulavsky
