The side dishes at this restaurant tell you that something special is going on in the kitchen. They include yams, red beans and rice, black-eyed peas, hush puppies, fried okra, corn bread, rice and gravy, potato salad, cabbage and macaroni and cheese. Two sides and cornbread are served with lunch entrees from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while dinner entrees come with three sides and cornbread. Among those entrees are turkey wings, smothered steak or chicken, hot links, oxtails, liver and onions, short ribs, pork chops, meat loaf, gumbo, chitterlings, fried or baked chicken, red snapper and catfish. Sandwiches, served with fries or potato salad, include ham and cheese, club, hot link, turkey burger, grilled cheese, and turkey and cheese. Chicken and waffles can be ordered with three wings and one waffle or one breast with one waffle. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 a.m. and features omelets (vegetable, Denver, bacon, turkey), along with eggs served with pork sausage, salmon croquet, hot links, beef patty, grilled chicken, corned beef hash or ham steak. All breakfasts come with smothered potatoes, grits or rice. Several desserts are peach cobbler, lemon cake, banana pudding and sweet potato pie. Sandwiches start at $6.
