PICK OF THE WEEK:
SUSHI KO
7101 W. Craig Road at U.S. 95, 702-655-5782
Since opening 10 years ago, Sushi Ko has become known for its many delicious rolls. That's because fresh fish is delivered daily and all sauces are homemade. Add in the sushi bar and teppan tables, and it all makes for a popular restaurant. Chef's recommendations include Alaskan king crab roll, Jalapeno Popper, tuna carpaccio, sashimi, Avocado Lover, Smoking Ace I (salmon), Oyster Shooter, Lion King and spicy garlic sashimi with tuna, salmon and albacore. Other featured rolls are Spider, Mamma Mia, Sun Devil, California Crunch, Arizona (hamachi), Japanese Lasagna and spicy crab Mexican roll. Several standard rolls are California with crab, Nevada, Philadelphia, scallop, vegetable and soft-shell crab. Popular sushi and sashimi selections are tako (octopus), toro (fatty tuna), unagi (freshwater eel), uni (sea urchin), masago (smelt roe), hokkigai (surf clam) and ama ebi (sweet shrimp). Among the entrees are spicy chicken, vegetable or shrimp tempura, salmon or beef teriyaki and chicken katsu. Several salads are salmon skin, cucumber, tataki with tuna, albacore or salmon and chicken teriyaki. Lunch specials, beginning at $6.20, are served until 3 p.m. Standard cut rolls start at $4. Sushi Ko is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. - Jack Bulavsky
