Dining Pick of the Week: Veggie House

PICK OF THE WEEK:

VEGGIE HOUSE

5115 Spring Mountain Road at Edmond Street, 702-431-5802

There's no need to go into great detail about this restaurant, as the name says it all. But know that vegetarians love Veggie House because it's the only Asian vegetarian restaurant in town. What does that mean? It means you can enjoy spicy Kung Pao beef, sesame chicken or orange beef and still be vegetarian because it's all soy. So eat away. Other favorites are pad Thai noodle, salt and pepper fried fish, curry squid, mushroom chicken, pineapple duck, General Tso's chicken, Szechwan scallops and walnut shrimp. One of the most popular dishes is Buddha's Delight with mushrooms, broccoli, snow peas, bok choy and tofu skin bean noodles. Other featured entrees include braised tofu with vegetables, mushroom squash pumpkin with soft tofu, eggplant and tofu, shredded bean curd with baby bamboo and crispy fried seaweed. There are Veggie Sizzling Plates with beef, chicken, tofu or seafood and rice and noodle dishes such as house lo mein (stir-fried noodles with vegetables), house fried rice with pineapple, raisins and peas, noodle soup with egg or rice noodles and Hunan scallops with pan-fried noodles. There is even soybean milk. Entrees begin at $8.50. Veggie House is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Jack Bulavsky
