DINING: Sweet radicchio, free Grand Slam day
I don’t usually mention national ad campaigns on this blog, but two that just arrived in the mail are too good to pass up, so here they are, in reverse order.
For Valentine’s Day, those wags at Royal Rose Radicchio urge, “This Valentine’s Day, take the bitter with the sweet” (Get it? Har!) and suggest a visit to their web site at www.radicchio.com for recipes and other radicchio-related information.
And Denny’s sent a preview of its three Super Bowl commercials (it appears Denny’s is having a banner year) announcing another Free Original Grand Slam Day, plus these Super Bowl Fun Facts:
“The Super Bowl is televised in over 220 countries, with an audience estimated at close to 1 billion people.
“Approximately 1 in 20 Americans watch the game at a bar or restaurant.
“On Super Bowl Sunday Americans will eat an estimated 20 million pounds of potato and tortilla chips and 8 million pounds of avocados.
“The Dallas Cowboys have played in the Super Bowl a record 8 times with 5 wins; however the Pittsburgh Steelers have played in 7 Super Bowls, winning 6 of them in 4 years.”
Not sure about that last one, but in case you miss the commercials, Free Original Grand Slam Day is 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 9).
