DINING: World Cup parties and much more

Several local restaurants and bars are planning special viewing parties for the World Cup, Friday (June 11) through July 11. Among them:
Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has created a special menu pairing foods and beers from nine countries. Among them: cheesy beer and warm soft pretzels with Warsteiner beer for Germany and the BAM’wich with Bud or Bud Light for the USA.
Sushisamba at the Palazzo will serve a special menu that includes dishes such as a South American frittata with linguica, hearts of palm, asparagus and Manchego cheese, and three soccer-themed drinks. The games will air at 11:30 a.m. daily on large screens throughout the restaurant.
Agave, 10820 W. Charleston Blvd., will serve a World Cup breakfast menu beginning at 7 a.m. daily. Among the dishes are a crisp breakfast chile relleno stuffed with bacon, scrambled eggs, Manchego cheese, roasted potatoes and poblano cream. Agave also is offering $2 Modelo draft beers, $3 Bloody Marias and $5 Guinness pub cans.
El Segundo Sol at Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will open at 10 a.m. on Friday for the first game (South Africa vs. Mexico) and will offer Loco Hour specials during every game, including $2.95 bottomless chips with three salsas and $4.95 chicken quesadillas, plus $4.95 frozen margaritas, $3.95 sangria and more. ...
Mike Mills, owner of Memphis Championship Barbecue, is scheduled to appear on “Good Morning America” on Friday (June 11) as part of the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party.
Memphis’ three valley locations are celebrating the company’s 15th anniversary with specials this summer. They include buy-one-entree-get-one-half-off from 4 p.m. to close at all three locations on Tuesday (June 15), plus various specials and drawings through August. ...
Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, 1451 Center Crossing Road, has scheduled two cooking demonstrations and a class this month. The demos, which are free and run from 10 a.m. to noon, are scheduled for Saturday (June 12; European cuisine) and June 26 (pizza party). As part of its Founder’s Day celebration on Monday (June 14), the Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4475 Paradise Road, is offering 71-cent Legendary Burgers to all police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians during its Burger Badge Bash from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (The price is a reference to the chain’s founding in 1971). A Guns & Hoses Legendary Burger Eating Contest is scheduled for noon. Admission is a donation to Three Square Food Bank. ...
Chefs from the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group will lead cooking classes at Whole Foods Market at 8855 W.
