DJ AM (LAX Co-Owner) Suffered Scalp And Arm Burns In Crash

It’s obvious, but it’s news. Pure nightclub has canceled tonight’s scheduled performance by DJ AM and DJ Jazzy Jeff. DJ AM (Adam Michael Goldstein) is recuperating from a Learjet crash in Columbia, S.C., on Friday morning.

DJ AM and former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker were the only two survivors. They’re both being treated for second- and third-degree burns at a burn center, which announced Sunday that it will probably take a year to fully recover. DJ AM suffered burns to his scalp and an arm. Barker’s torso and lower body were burned.

The DJ and the drummer had performed together in South Carolina, then boarded the plane, which apparently suffered a flat tire at exactly the wrong time during take off. It crashed immediately and killed both of the plane’s crew and both musicians’ staffers. In other words, and I don’t mean this to sound tactless but it will, the only survivors were the famous people.

DJ AM plays Las Vegas regularly, because he’s co-owner of LAX nightclub and he’s a resident DJ there and at Pure. But I’ve seen him spin here for years, even before he got engaged to Nicole Richie (that relationship: 2005-2007).

As I reported last week, Barker was just in Las Vegas along to promote the next “Guitar Hero: World Tour” game in the Mandalay Bay Events Center, for a private group of 6,000 store managers from GameStops and EB Games. Barker pitched the game alongside Ozzy Osbourne and Mark McGrath.
