Don’t try this at home
July 5, 2012 - 2:08 pm
Kim Weis, an emergency room nurse, told the man who had come to her restaurant table unannounced that she was a grandmother. He gave her a good look and said she appeared too young to be a grandmother.
"Let me tell you, first of all. I love nurses. Can I tell you? You look great. This is a good-looking woman."
Those were President Obama's words at a public restaurant on the campaign trail today.
I wasn't there, of course, so maybe the context of this exchange was a perfectly natural thing. Reading about it after the fact makes it sound kinda weird, though. Can you imagine trying that at home -- going to a local restaurant, picking out a woman diner at random and saying: "Can I tell you? You look great. This is a good-looking woman."
The next sound you're likely to hear is "Whack!"
As always, you can read the entire press pool report here and make up your own mind.
