Downtown shooting cancels planned Titus event

A shooting at the federal courthouse in downtown Las Vegas has resulted in the cancellation of a planned 11 a.m. event to honor Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., at the nearby Fifth Street School.

Titus was scheduled to receive an environmental award from the group Environment Nevada.

The event was planned at the Fifth Street School, which is on lockdown as it is adjacent to the site of a shooting at the Lloyd George federal courthouse downtown.

The gunman reportedly opened fire in the lobby and hit two U.S. Marshals.

The suspect in the shooting was shot and fled to a spot near the school where he was shot by U.S. Marshals were returning fire.
