Eagles lineman tweets $17.7k rookie dinner bill

A $17,747.86 restaurant bill is proof that the NFL rookie dinner tradition is alive and well.
Lane Johnson, offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, tweeted the bill Friday night from Del Frisco’s Steakhouse in Philadelphia, where the cheapest steak was a $47 16oz strip.
Some of the highlights of the bill include $275 shots of cognac, nearly $9,500 for four top-shelf bottles of wine and 12 separate orders of steak.
Johnson technically isn’t a rookie, and instead a second year, so people on Twitter were quick to call his bill a result of hazing from the group of O-linemen he took out for dinner.
But don’t you worry, he was quick to defend it, saying, “For those of you so concerned with my business, I am grateful to be able to treat my O-line to such a great evening voluntarily!”
The auto gratuity of $472.70 was another thing people complained about on Twitter, but many also assumed someone who could afford that bill could also leave a good tip on the table.
