Economic stimulus: Congressional race brings big bucks to Nevada

Who needs government spending on infrastructure or a social safety net to revive the economy?

Congressional candidates Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., and Republican Joe Heck are generating millions of dollars of spending in Nevada without even casting a vote.

Hotline reports the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to spend $1.4 million beginning Oct. 5 on television ads to help Titus return for a second term in the House of Representatives.

Not to be outdone, well, they're actually being a little outdone, the National Republican Congressional Committee will spend $900,000 to help the challenger, Heck.

At stake is the seat representing the 3rd Congressional District in Nevada which, with about 1 million people living in it, is reportedly the most populous of its kind in the country.

It's also among the hardest-hit by the recession and housing foreclosure crisis, so expect ads with lots of bemoaning and blame about the economy.
