Educator purchases country club condo

Melissa Lilly no longer has worries about hurricane gusts blowing against the windows of her high-rise condominium in Miami. She is busy settling into her new home at Monterey at Las Vegas Country Club near the Las Vegas Strip.

"I moved to Las Vegas from Miami because I was hired by the theater department at Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts. I had started thinking about relocating after Hurricane Katrina went through Miami. During the storm, I could feel the high-rise where I was living sway in the wind, and then afterward we didn't have any electricity for weeks," Lilly said.

Lilly chose a single-story, two-bedroom home. Monterey offers 27 floor plans. Studio, one- and two-bedroom single-level homes as well as two-story townhomes, measuring from 624 to 1,750 square feet, are available. Prices start from the mid-$100,000s.

Architectural elements include patios or balconies, fireplaces, wet bars, built-in bookshelves and walk-in closets. Upgraded flooring, two-tone paint, maple cabinets and slab granite counters are all included features.

Monterey residents have access to an on-site, equipped fitness center.

The Las Vegas Country Club has miles of walkways. Picnic areas with gas barbecues are in the neighborhood's mature park-like setting.

To visit, take Interstate 15 and exit Sahara Avenue east. Turn right on Paradise Road and left on Karen Avenue. Enter through the gate on Karen Avenue, located between Paradise Road and Maryland Parkway.

The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information about the complex, visit montereylvcc.com or call 796-9700.
