Egg Hunt is a Summerlin tradition

Hundreds of Summerlin residents attended the 14th annual Egg Hunt at The Trails Park in the master-planned community of Summerlin March 15. The spring event included a variety of activities for all ages, including a candy and egg hunt, train ride, petting zoo, bounce house and visits from several characters, including Mr. Bunny. Face painters and balloon artists also contributed to the event's festive atmosphere.

"Egg Hunt is a popular annual tradition for many of Summerlin's young families who appreciate the season, spring temperatures and time together as a family," said Traci Giesea, special events and recreation coordinator for The Summerlin Council.

The Egg Hunt is one of nearly two dozen annual special events planned for Summerlin residents by The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association, which is dedicated to the social, cultural, educational and recreational enrichment of residents. Other annual events planned by The Summerlin Council include the Summerlin Patriotic Parade, Snow Day, Summerlin Circus, Hometown Holidays and the Summerlin Pumpkin Festival.

"These events contribute to the overall lifestyle offerings of the community and further distinguish Summerlin from other master-planned communities," said Nikki Liesse, marketing director for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "The Summerlin Council works to keep the calendar full for many Summerlin families for whom these seasonal celebrations have become traditions."

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 9,000 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan, including the community's urban core of Summerlin Centre.

The community is home to more than 95,000 residents. Amenities available to residents include more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 22 public and private schools and more than 100 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the mid-$200,000s to more than $2 million.

Custom home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $900s.
