ENTERTAINMENT: ‘Raw Talent’ to close, finally
The surprise is not that it’s closing, but that it lasted as long as it did. At either rate, word is out backstage that “Fuego Raw Talent” closes Jan. 4 at the Sahara, after three months.
The show was said to play to as few as one or two people at some performances, and apparently never fielded a paid attendance that outnumbered the 50-plus performers acting out the dull and incredibly muddled parable about technology versus humanity.
A couple of things to ponder here:
1. The show closes the same day as “Mamma Mia!” at Mandalay Bay and “Stomp Out Loud” at Planet Hollywood. Could we be seeing a game of “showroom shuffle” here? I'd say it's quite possible with “Stomp,” less so with “Mamma.”
2. “Fuego” was a vanity production helmed and presumably financed by the producer known as ND (Nicole Durr). In Germany, she’s known as the daughter of Heinz Durr, whose namesake company is one of the world's main suppliers of automotive assembly systems. The show closing apparently was announced backstage Thursday night, the same day the proposed plan to bail out the U.S. automotive industry imploded in the Senate. Coincidence?
