ENTERTAINMENT: The comedian and showgirl combo

Iliza Shlesinger, recent winner of the NBC talent contest “Last Comic Standing,” will perform a guest spot in Bally’s “Jubilee!”  Sunday through Wednesday.
That’s right, “Jubilee!,” the venerable showgirl revue that owes at least some of its appeal to a minimal language barrier for international visitors. Why this show? Is no one up to the challenge of spelling Shlesinger’s name on an outdoor sign?
The answer is that the “Jubilee!” stint was part of the TV contest’s $250,000 “prize package” (as it's termed in a press release). That allowed Harrah’s Entertainment to get a "Jubilee!" plug on national television when the “Standing” finale was broadcast from the adjacent theater at Paris Las Vegas.
Harrah’s and NBC cut a similar deal for “America’s Got Talent” last summer, but didn’t bother to tell winner Terry Fator or his management. They had independently booked Fator for the Las Vegas Hilton, and politely let the “Jubilee!” offer go away.
Las Vegas is a stand-up comedy mecca, so Shlesinger is sure to return. But if you can’t wait, or haven’t seen the Titanic sink in a while, knock yourself out.
