ENTERTAINMENT: The show count from Sunday’s column
Today’s entertainment column talks about the “irrational exuberance” on the Strip, where — recession be damned! — new shows opening this year so far outnumber those that closed by three to one.
The column runs in full down the page and usually doesn’t jump inside, so I didn’t use space to list the specifics of my tally. But in case anybody is curious, here they are, in no particular order.
Shows that closed: “An Evening at La Cage,” “Folies Bergere,” “Laugh Out Loud with The Scintas,” “Menopause The Musical” and “Scarlett — Princess of Magic.”
Shows that opened or soon plan to: “The Lion King,” “Peepshow,” “Monster Circus,” “Men of X,” “Ignite,” “Voices, “Sin City Bad Girls,” “The Sin City Comedy Show,” “Magic’s A Drag,” “Rich Natole — Voices of a Generation,” “Freaks,” “Trent Carlini’s Elvolution,” “Shear Madness,” “Steven & Cassandra Best: Superstars of Magic” and Human Nature.
And here are shows that moved to a new venue, included in case you thought I forgot them. Though some retitled and repositioned themselves, I didn’t consider them “new” for these purposes: Terry Fator, Gordy Brown, Bobby Slayton, “Legends in Concert” and “Tony ‘N’ Tina’s Wedding.”
