Ex-Reagan campaign manager Ed Rollins endorses Lowden
Ed Rollins, who ran Ronald Reagan's successful 1984 re-election campaign, has endorsed Sue Lowden in the U.S. Senate race.
Backing from the Republican Party strategist could give Lowden a boost, especially among GOP loyalists, as she fights to the finish for the GOP nomination.
Polls are showing Lowden running neck and neck or just behind Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle, who seems to have the momentum in the primary.
Danny Tarkanian also remains a top contender to face Democratic incumbent Harry Reid as the candidates make a final push for votes ahead of Tuesday's election.
In announcing the Rollins endorsement, Lowden's campaign manager Robert Uithoven took a little dig at Tarkanian, who has been invoking The Gipper on the trail.
"Danny has often claimed on the campaign trail that he is running Ronald Reagan's last campaign. Actually, the truth of the matter is that the real man who ran Ronald Reagan's last campaign is supporting Sue Lowden for U.S. Senate," Uithoven said.
