Experience Summerlin extended to year’s end

Due to the popularity of Experience Summerlin, the promotion has been extended through December according to Nikkole Liesse, marketing director for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. Valley residents are encouraged to visit experiencesummerlin.com to get more information on the promotion, see a full calendar of community events and learn how they can enter to win one of five $500 holiday shopping sprees.

According to Liesse, more than 10,000 people visited the Web site during October. "The response exceeded our expectations," Liesse said. "It's apparent valley residents are genuinely interested in experiencing the active and vibrant lifestyle of Summerlin."

More than 100 events are planned in Summerlin through the end of the year. Events include performances of "The King and I" by Signature Productions, a performance from the Las Vegas Ballet Company and piano recitals at the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center; community cooking classes at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas; band and choir concerts at several of the community's 25 public and private schools and several seasonal and holiday-related events at Summerlin's various houses of worship, including Night in Bethlehem at Faith Community Lutheran Church.

"We encourage valley residents to look at our community calendar and attend some of the planned activities and events," Liesse said. "Visiting the community, becoming familiar with our various amenities and interacting with our residents is the best way to experience Summerlin."

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties Inc., Summerlin began to take shape in 1990.

Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with 9,000 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan, including the community's urban core of Summerlin Centre.

The community is currently home to more than 98,000 residents. Amenities include more than 150 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 completed miles of the Summerlin trail system, nine golf courses, a dozen houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks, 25 public and private schools and 75 actively selling floor plans.

Homes are available in a variety of styles -- from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts -- priced from the upper $100,000s to more than $2 million.
