Father, son embrace ManhattanWest

Realtors Dave Tina Sr. and Dave Tina Jr., originally from Flushing, N.Y., chose a home at ManhattanWest, a condominium development in the western Las Vegas Valley.
The Tinas have been Las Vegas residents for 12 years, and had sought a community that provides a mix of people, shops and services that mirrored the city lifestyle that New York provided.
As Realtors, they had heard about ManhattanWest and when they first visited, they knew they had found the right place.
"ManhattanWest is a new way of getting back to a city feel and getting back to being involved in where you live," Dave Tina Jr. said. "Where you live and how you interact with your surroundings can really play a part in the quality of your life. The whole point is to be connected and involved."
The Tinas praised ManhattanWest for its amenities such as the restaurants, gym and the coffee bar, all of which create a social environment.
Another appeal for the Tinas was not having the hassles of maintaining their current homes.
"After you've lived in a house for 30 years, you get tired of the pool guy, the maintenance guy and the lawn guy," the elder Tina said. "I want to be able to come home and have everything right here for me, where I don't have to worry about a thing and enjoy my life."
The Tinas plan to use the pools at the Element House, the community's central hub.
They found their new home by sticking to certain criteria.
"I chose the Chelsea floor plan which is modeled at the sales center," Dave Tina Jr. said. "There is a lot of living space for a two-bedroom and it just feels right. Plus the location was important to me. I'm going to be overlooking the pool and I'm very excited about that." After spending his life in large homes, Dave Sr. felt that the three-bedroom 5th Avenue home also overlooking the pool was the perfect match for him. "It has plenty of space, and even though I'm living in a mid-rise, I can still feel like it's my home and enjoy it."
There was only one catch with the father and son living in the same community.
"I made a deal with my son that we could live in the same community, but not the same building. As much as we love each other, we do not want to see each other in the hallways," Dave Tina Sr. said.
They both said that it must be the old Italian family way to want to have each other close by.
