Feminists and virginity tests
You know Greta Van Susteren is one of my favorite bloggers. No fence-sitting. She comes down on one side or the other. And I like that.
This morning she lowers the boom on American feminism for failing to condemn Muslim mistreatment of women. Why? Because we are currently in the Age of Obama, a liberal outfit for whom no criticism may be uttered. As Greta says:
"Now, it is a political movement with greatly diminishing impact (almost none.) Their failure is obvious – eg they do not stand up when a conservative woman is subject to disgraceful sexism. Their “pick and choose” hypocrisy has had an extreme cost.
"Imagine what they could be doing for women around the world if they had not drifted away from their original goal."
Well, Greta, they might even take issue with virginity tests in Egypt and an Obama-led government that turns a blind eye . Yep. Women organizations in America could have been a contender. Now they are largely political pressure groups with no lofty goal.
