Final girls’ night out

Rep. Shelley Berkley was hosting a party tonight at her Capitol Hill townhouse as a farewell to departing female Democratic lawmakers. The wine and likely some tears were expected to flow at the good-byes.

Apart from Nevada Rep. Dina Titus, who was co-hosting the party, a guest list could not be obtained but many of the Democratic women serving in the House were expected to attend including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to a Berkley spokesman.

There are 60 Democratic women in the House. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer was going to be allowed in as well.

Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., is retiring plus 10 Democratic congresswomen lost their seats in November. Those include Titus, Ann Kirpatrick of Arizona, Betsy Markey of Colorado, Suzanne Kosmas of Florida, Debbie Halvorson of Illinois, Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire, Melissa Bean of Illinois, Mary Jo Kilroy of Ohio, Kathy Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin of South Dakota.
