Findlay Acura presenting tournament to help man

Findlay Acura in the Valley Automall is combining with Cactus Jack's bar and grill to sponsor a benefit golf tournament for a long-time Southern Nevada resident April 22 at Badlands Golf Course.

The tournament will benefit Las Vegan Chuck Besen, a Findlay Acura dealership customer who has fought a long battle with various medical issues during the past several years.

Besen entered Desert Springs Hospital for an aortic valve replacement in 2008. He then ended up at University Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz., where he was placed on a heart machine with total organ failure.

Besen remained on an artificial heart for seven months until a suitable donor was found. He became the second person in the world to get a dual organ transplant of an artificial heart and a kidney.

"We have known Chuck for several years," said Findlay Acura General Manager Kevin Hicks. "He is a great guy and has endured an awful lot. We want to help him with this golf tournament at one of the most popular courses in the country.

"He's truly someone who never gives up," added Hicks, a 26-year veteran of the car business. "This is the first in many fundraisers that we want to help promote for Chuck and his family."
