Flashback Features make for a cheap night out

Times are tough, and chances of forking over $10.50 for a first-run movie ticket just isn’t in your budget right now. But for the price of a cup of designer coffee, you can enjoy a classic film the way it was meant to be seen –– by an audience on the big screen.

Flashback Features have returned to the Regal Cinemas at Aliante and Texas Stations. Tickets are $5. You’ll probably still want the prerequisite trash bucket-sized container of popcorn and matching soda, but regardless, this is still a pretty cheap way to enjoy an evening out.

At Aliante Station, 7300 Aliante Parkway, features are scheduled to screen at 6:30 p.m. Mondays:

  • March 29: Catch Marlon Brando in “On the Waterfront” (1954).
  • April 5: Check out Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson in “The Magnificent Seven” (1960).
  • April 12: Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds will be “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952).
  • April 19: See the iconic Audrey Hepburn in one of her most famous roles as the irrepressible Holly Golightly in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961).
  • April 26: John Wayne and and Natalie Wood return to the silver screen in “The Searchers” (1956).
  • May 3: Humphrey Bogart is private eye Sam Spade in “The Maltese Falcon” (1941).
  • May 10: Before Johnny Depp, Gene Wilder was the original candy man in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (1971).
  • May 17: Graham Chapman (joined by John Cleese and Eric Idle) is King Arthur in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” (1975).
  • May 24: You’ll be off to see the wizard once again in “The Wizard of Oz” (1939).

At Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane, features are scheduled to screen at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays:

  • March 31: Put Baby in a corner and come out and see “Dirty Dancing” (1987).
  • April 7: Calling all nerds... “Star Trek: The Wrath of Kahn” (1982).
  • April 14: Dinosaurs once again roam the Earth in “Jurassic Park” (1993).
  • April 21: Find your inner child during “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982).

  • May 12: Slyvester Stallone steps into the ring in “Rocky” (1976).
