Floridians settle in at Aliante
When Eric and Jan Cook journeyed from Miami to Las Vegas, they said they found the right change of scenery at Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas.
"We were driving around, looking at the signs for various communities when we stopped into Aliante," Eric Cook said. "In our case, we wanted a home with a good-sized yard because we enjoy the outdoors and have two dogs."
Jan Cook said that she liked the mountain views, as well as the "clean and quiet" areas of the development.
"The developer has created beautiful areas to walk and everyone is so nice here," she said. "Our neighbors are great. We really feel lucky to have found Aliante."
Encompassing more than 1,900 acres, Aliante consists of a primary village and age-qualified village, with as many as 7,500 homes planned.
Builders include Astoria Homes, Del Webb, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes, with prices ranging from the upper $100,000s to the upper $600,000s.
In addition, Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante community.
About 428 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Deer Springs Park, Aviary Park, more than 24 miles of lighted concrete trails and linear parks and an arroyo.
Proposed plans include two elementary schools and a middle school, all of which would be built by the Clark County School District. A new fire station was opened in April 2004 and the Aliante Library opened in May 2006.
Ground is set to be broken for the Aliante Station Hotel and Casino.
