March 1, 2013 - 12:00 am
Ford Country is teaming with the Keeping Kids Safe Project by S.I.P. (Safety in Prints) Kids, a national child safety organization, to present a child safety fair today and Saturday.
During the event, free digital fingerprints of children will be taken.
“Police officials say time is crucial in the recovery of missing children. One major problem that costs precious time is gathering current photographs, fingerprints and personal information to assist law enforcement agencies,” said Lytishya Borglum, national director of S.I.P. Kids.
Additionally, the event will include exhibits and participation by Henderson Police Department, Army National Guard, Henderson Libraries, United Studios of Self Defense, Community Ambulance, Grant a Gift Autism Foundation, Henderson Parks and Recreation, Doodad Magic, YMCA of Southern Nevada, Prevent Child Abuse Nevada, Stay Away Don’t Play, and Safe Splash Swim School.
Among the activities will be a puppet show, games, balloon animals, magic, hula hoops and crafts. A police cruiser, ambulance and Humvee also will be on display.
The safety event is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ford Country, 280 N. Gibson Road, Henderson.
The dealership also is offering a free barbecue lunch Saturday. Ice cream will be served both days.
