Former Rep. Jon Porter watching the play

Watching the final table action at the Rio for the World Series of Poker’s Main Event is former Nevada Congressman Jon Porter, who is now a lobbyist in Washington D.C.

Porter, a Republican who represented Las Vegas from Congressional District 3 for until 2009, represents the Poker Players Alliance on Capitol Hill.

The organization, which includes some of poker’s biggest names as its spokespeople, is advocating for the legalization of Internet poker.
