Freddie Mac’s big, discouraging numbers
If you want to see a report that pretty much defines the economic woes central to the national housing crisis, here you go:
"Taxpayers have spent about $169 billion to rescue Fannie and Freddie, the most expensive bailout of the 2008 financial crisis. The government estimates it could cost up to $51 billion more to support the companies through 2014."
Fifty-one billion bucks chasing $169 billion to buy us 24 more months. (Insert deep sigh here.)
Here's a good story from the Associated Press to update you on the woes of Fannie and Freddie. It's sad, but worth the read.
PS: And, oh, BTW: Don't forget to remember Rep. Barney Frank and Sens. Chris Dodd and Harry Reid when you read the story.
