Freshman senator delivers Ensign zinger
At the annual dinner of the Washington Press Club Foundation on Wednesday night, four freshman senators and House members were called upon to deliver short monologues.
Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., "pulled off her comedy routine surprisingly well, despite a few glitches in comedic timing," according to an account in The Hill.
"The newly minted senator joked that she goes to the men's room in the Senate for advice, where most recently, she said, 'Rand Paul told me to buy gold, Chuck Schumer said you should have a press conference every day, and John Ensign said that I should get to know my staff really, really well.' "
Paul believes U.S. currency should be backed by gold. Schumer is a notorious publicity hound. Ensign's office had no response to Ayotte's reference to his extramarital affair.
