Friendly Ford to host safety event

In its continuing effort to give back to the community, Friendly Ford will host a free DNA LifePrint Next Generation child safety event from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

DNA LifePrint is an FBI-approved program that gives parents a record of identifying data for their children. After digitally photographing the child, finger and palm prints are taken using biometric technology, which has 99.6 percent accuracy rate. The photograph and the finger and palm prints are then burned to a compact disc, which parents take home with them. Also, each child gets a home DNA identification kit and a child safety journal. The journal provides vital information to law enforcement if a child goes missing and contains questions developed by police and child safety experts.

“Friendly Ford had hosted the DNA LifePrint event in September of last year and thought that it was so important to bring it back to the families of Las Vegas that may have missed it last time,” Friendly Ford General Manager Jason Davis said. “Parents will appreciate the extra peace of mind that this program provides.”

Biometrics provide the most advanced technology available for obtaining fingerprints. It also allows for a child’s fingerprints to be immediately submitted to the FBI database as soon as the child is reported missing, making the information available to all law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.

The DNA LifePrint program is endorsed by John Walsh, host of the long-running television program “America’s Most Wanted.”

“I endorse this program, because it provides parents with the vital tools they need to help safeguard their children,” Walsh said. “Parents, I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity.”
