Frys.com ends today in Summerlin
October 14, 2007 - 9:00 pm
The PGA Tour 2007 Frys.com Open to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children concludes today at TPC Summerlin.
Formerly known as the Las Vegas Invitational, the event, now in its 25th year, moved to Summerlin's Tournament Players Club course in 1992. With a $4 million purse, the Frys.com Open draws to Summerlin some of the biggest names in golf, including 2006 champion Troy Matteson, who returned to defend his title. Also committed to participate were Davis Love III, John Daly, Lee Janzen, Mark Calcavecchia, Tom Lehman, Rich Beem, Lucas Glover and international stars Jesper Parnevik and Shigeki Maruyama.
New to the experience this year is The Hill, a luxury 22,000-square-foot entertainment pavilion overlooking the 16th, 17th and 18th holes that grants a panoramic view of the course, Las Vegas skyline and Red Rock Canyon. Some of the city's most popular restaurants will provide a selection of foods, and bars will offer premium beer, wine and spirits.
The fun on The Hill culminates in the Hole-in-One Ferrari sweepstakes at the 17th hole today. The Ferrari is valued at $350,000 and one spectator may drive it home.
If no player scores a hole-in-one on the 17th, the Frys.com Open will raffle off a complimentary entry in the tournament's 2008 Pro-Am. The Pro-Am package is valued at $12,000 for this year's tournament.
Tickets for the tournament with access to The Hill are $15 for a single-day pass. Tickets and additional tournament information are available on the Web at TheFrysOpen.com or by calling 873-1010.
