Gage to enter plea on obstruction charge

Attorney Noel Gage will enter an Alford Plea this afternoon in U.S. District Court to settle the government's case against him in the ongoing investigation of local personal injury lawyers and doctors. Knowledgeable sources confirm Gage's plea, which does not compel him to admit guilt, will focus solely on a single obstruction charge. Gage was also accused of fraud charges, but those charges will be dismissed.

The obstruction charge centers on Gage failing to turn over three checks after receiving a government subpoena. 

An Alford Plea compels a defendant only to admit that the government had facts in it's posession that might lead to a conviction.

Another source tells me Gage will give former client Melodie Simon $750,000.

The hearing is set for 2 p.m.
