Gang awareness to be focus of Saturday forum

Valley law enforcement agencies are scheduled to hold a forum on gangs at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Army National Guard Facility at 4500 W. Silverado Ranch Blvd.

Members of the public are invited to attend the event, aimed at helping the community better address the increase of local gang activity and informing residents about the inner workings of gang culture.

Several former gang members are slated to provide information and answer participants’ questions. Gang prevention and intervention programs also are planned, offering solutions and activities for youth.

The event is being coordinated by the Metropolitan and Henderson police departments and Partnerships for Youth at Risk.
