Gibbons gets pro-life support

LIFEPAC, a political action committee for the anti-abortion Nevada Right to Life group, on Friday announced it would endorse the re-election campaign of Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons.

On its Web site the group posted: “Governor Gibbons has consistently exhibited pro-life principles throughout his years of political service,” and, “While a representative in congress, Governor Gibbons frequently voted in favor of pro-life laws.• As governor, we are confident he will continue to ensure the safety of the innocent unborn.”  (The Nevada Right to Life website can be viewed, here.)

Gibbons was grateful for the support, stating: “My record shows that among the candidates running for governor, I have the most consistent record voting in favor of pro-life measures and continue to support those values today.”

Gibbons is trailing far behind former federal judge Brian Sandoval for the Republican nomination, according to statewide public opinion polls. The same polls show former North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon, who is also pro-life, a distant third.

Sandoval is pro-choice, although he has said he opposes late-term abortion, partial birth abortion and federal funding for abortions.
